Paulo Coelho is one of my favourite writers and I have always been able to connect with his writings so well, that I almost feel like it has become my responsibility to write about it here, so that I can inspire other readers all around the world to read his books and get a sense of direction in their lives (if they’re feeling lost) and in that way, thank him, because at the the moment, this is all I can do to thank him!

So here I am sharing my experience reading three of his books, that I really loved.

  • THE ALCHEMIST

I remember my college had just started and I was feeling really lost and confused, because I didn’t really know what exactly I was aiming for and I just randomly added 'The Alchemist' into my Amazon cart and started reading it. And the book just helped me get through a LOT many things at the time. Plus, as a person, I just love philosophy, so his writings kind of inspired me to believe more in my dreams and wishes. Even now, on days when I feel demotivated or unconfident, I turn to The Alchemist and it literally feels like a pat on the back.

  • LIKE THE FLOWING RIVER

ree

Post The Alchemist, I read, ‘Like the Flowing River’, which is not a continuous story, but a collection of essays about life and spirituality and I could just draw so much from it. And the thing that sets Paulo Coelho’s writings apart from other philosophical books is that his stories aren’t preachy at all. In fact, you read it just like a story and then the spirituality clicks you like an afterthought.

  • WARRIOR OF THE LIGHT

ree

The third Paulo Coelho book I read, was ‘Warrior of the Light’. I had actually issued this book from a library and I ended up liking it so much, that I bought it and again, like The Alchemist, I turn up to the book when I feel anxious and hopeless and it just empowers me so, so much! It consists of very short passages that literally guide you through the uncertainty of life.

Now I know that I have written more about my experience reading the books than writing about the book itself, but I really feel that writing a sort of a review for these books isn’t going to work because his books are a lot more than just the stories within them. They have a kind of depth that would lose its charm if I write a full-fledged review about them.

I am also starting to feel like Paulo Coelho is a living guiding force, that pushes people in the right direction, something that the world needs at the moment. His writings really have the power to do that! They feel like a breath of fresh air or the radiant morning sunrise or the feeling of standing at the top of the mountain, by the time you finish reading his book.

I am yet to read his other books but the one that I’m dying to read next is Hippie, which is actually his autobiography. I’ve heard a lot about it and I know I’m pretty late, but yes, I am going to read it soon and will definitely write a bit about it as well.

ALSO! If you guys too are a fan of Paulo Coelho’s writings, then you should definitely check out his blog https://paulocoelhoblog.com/ where he shares so many stories, thoughts, reflections, etc. and it never fails to enlighten me!

And, if you guys have any recommendations for me, do drop them in the comments. Could be any of his books or maybe, a different author who has a similar writing style, or anything that inspires you guys :)
